Q. I have a router (or wireless router); do I still need a modem for my High-speed Internet connection?
A. This will depend on your location which determines the type of service used to supply your High-speed Internet Connection. If a modem is required, you may still use your router (or wireless router). Many of the routers sold today are misleadingly labeled as DSL or Broadband routers. Although these routers will work great at sharing your service throughout your home, and are fine for connection types that don't require a modem, they rarely have a modem built in.

Q. Why does my connection seem to be slow?
A. There are several possible reasons your Internet connection may appear to be slow. The first thing you should do is to run a speed test (http://speedtest.drtel.net ) to determine if the problem is the connection or your PC. If the speed test results are good, then the problem should be internal to your PC. There may be software running that is interfering with your Internet connection in a way that causes the system to respond slowly, which makes your Internet experience appear to be slow.

If the speed test results are lower than you believe they should be, please contact our Internet technical support for assistance.
